February 14, 2019

Press-release

Russian State Corporation Rostec will present the latest models of military and civilian equipment at the IDEX 2019 – the largest arms exhibition in the Middle East. In particular, it will hold the international debut of Pantsyr-ME, a shipborne air-defence missile and artillery system, as well as the 200 series of Kalashnikov assault rifles. In addition to military products, IDEX will see Russia exhibit Aurus, the armored limousine being a part of the Cortege project, that Rostec holdings contributed to.

The Middle East and North Africa are strategically important regions of the Corporation’s presence. In 2018, the Middle East accounted for nearly half of all exports of military products, handled by Rosoboronexport.

“The countries of the Middle East and North Africa are extremely important markets for us, where we implement a lot of projects in the field of military and technical cooperation. At the IDEX 2019, more than 50 enterprises of the Russian defence industry will showcase their developments. We will present a total of about 1,000 exhibits, with a number of weapon and military equipment models to be shown for the first time ever”, Sergey Chemezov, the CEO of Rostec, noted.

In particular, the unparalleled air-defence missile and artillery system Pantsir-ME will make its international debut. It will be presented by High-Precision Complexes Holding. The system is able to protect ships from all types of air attack weapons.

Kalashnikov Concern will showcase a wide range of small arms and hunting weapons. The 200 series of Kalashnikov, certified for export, will be shown abroad for the first time. The “two hundredth” series assault rifles will be one of the key Russian novelties at IDEX 2019.

Uralvagonzavod will present a number of its developments, including T-90MS, an upgraded version of the world’s best-selling T-90 tank. The armored vehicle features improved shooting accuracy, a new highly automated digital system of fire control, new digital means of communication, navigation and interaction, as well as a more powerful engine.

Tecmash Concern will exhibit a number of its latest ammunition products. These include a 122-mm unmanned rocket missile with a detachable blast fragmentation warhead for Tornado-G Multiple rocket launcher. In addition, at the show, the world community will for the first time see Tecmash’s AZ-TSR-47, an increased efficiency jet-stabilized projectile designed to protect surface ships from weapons equipped with radar guidance systems.

TSNIITOCHMASH will present at IDEX its already well-known second-generation Ratnik combat equipment, which is now supplied to the Russian Army. One of Ratnik’s components is a bulletproof vest that can stand 10 hits of armor-piercing incendiary bullets fired from Dragunov sniper rifle at a 10-meter distance.

In addition to cooperation in the military and technical field, Rostec intends to actively develop its regional partnership in civilian industries.

“Rostec is ready to cooperate with its Middle Eastern partners in the widest range of civilian areas, from digitalization of various spheres and industries to technological partnerships. In addition to military products, IDEX will see Russia showcase an armored Aurus limousine, that’s of Cortege project. Rostec has contributed both technologically and financially to this project. I am sure that our foreign partners will appreciate this car, which has safety as one of its key characteristics”, Sergey Chemezov, the CEO of the State Corporation Rostec, added.

Rostec already implements a number of civilian projects in the countries of the Middle East and North Africa. For example, ODK Holding cooperates with a number of companies in the region in terms of servicing and supporting the operation of Russian aircraft engines and is ready to expand that cooperation, while Shvabe Holding supplies medical equipment to the Middle East. In total, the region accounts for more than 10% of the Holding’s medical equipment exports.
